At the beginning of August, the 30-year average mortgage rate dropped to 6.49%, the lowest rate we’ve seen since February. This decline follows a drop in the flagship rate, which recorded a five-month low of 6.61%. Those record lows turned out to be blips on the slide, as the average set a new six-month low.
